Brows, Brows, Brows!

Brows On Fleek!

Brows are a huge part of finishing off your makeup look and can definitely make or break a look; whether you've nailed down your routine so your brows look like siblings, establishing a good brow routine is crucial! I was lucky enough to have Peanut Butter Gorgeous send me a brow box of products to try out and honestly, I'm obsessed!

Before I share and review the products, you can shop their link here!

When I received the box from Peanut Butter Gorgeous I was thrilled to see how many options and varieties of brow products they offer! When I tried out the products I started with the Brows On Point Micro brow pencil to shape out my brows and fill them, following with the brow powder in the shade Taupe to finish filling them in! To do that step I used the brow brush which is super easy to use. Both of these products lasted really well throughout the day and snatched my brows perfectly. Before going in with the brow gel to set them for the day I used the duo pencil to conceal and highlight the under edges of my brows. Doing this step allows your brow routine to appear clean and sharp!

I really value each product in this box and thought the various shades they sent me were a great addition to my professional kit and my personal everyday routine! These products are definitely something I would repurchase as they were so easy to use and the quality was amazing. One critique I would have is the packaging is a little bland compared to the quality of the product! Other than that I was so so happy and thrilled I got to try out a new brow company!

Thanks so much for reading and stay tuned for my next blog post!!

New York City

"Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of"

The city that literally never sleeps.

New York is full of a hustle like no other city all while remaining low stress, who knew that was possible?! I personally love New York for the obvious reasons of what it has to offer, but even more for the fact that it is so diverse in culture in every way, and is a completely different way of life than home.

In the week stay that we were there, we tried to see as much as we could. Visiting Brooklyn, Central Manhattan, Soho, Chelsea, Greenwich, West Side, Upper East, and Southern Manhattan around the One World Trade Centre area. We saw the city at different levels of business as well as different levels of awe. My favourites were the broadway show, Waitress, the Sunday Brunch Drag Show at LIPS NYC, and the 9/11 Museum, as it is put together quite brilliantly and it was extremely educational and informative. I also love the area of Soho as a whole!

Visiting the West Side was super neat, as I didn't explore it much the last time I was in the Big Apple! We visited the infamous Tom's Restaurant, famously known for being the meeting place in Seinfeld, along with Zabaar's Bagel Shop to pick up some true New York bagels! On our little Seinfeld adventure we had to stop in at the OG soupman! NO SOUP FOR YOU! I got the clam chowder, which I must say was delicious. After the West Side, it made the most sense to venture to Central Park which is always such a beautiful place to be!

The neat thing about NYC is that each area you visit is always going to be different then the next. The Upper East Side is very Gossip Girl with personal drivers and old money, whereas Soho is more trendy (and every instagrammer’s dream). Some cute cafes and places to eat in Soho are definitely Cha Cha Matcha and Jack's Wife Freda (get the pink eggs benny at the Carmine location)!  Another thing I love about the food in NYC in general is that I swear you can find a hidden Italian gem of a restaurant within every few blocks!

Transportation wise we mostly took the subway as it’s the most cost efficient and the fastest way to get around traffic. We were able to hop on a subway from Times Square and head on over to Brooklyn to explore the Brooklyn Bridge, Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights (visit Cranberry Street, especially if you're there in the summer). Of course we got Shake Shack while we were in the area! From Brooklyn we were able to hop on a subway and come out near the One World Trade Center, which made the most sense because it is near the southern part of Manhattan. When you visit the memorial and museum, you must walk another block and see the little church that wasn’t harmed at all during 9/11. It is chilling to see that such a small building stood so strong.

All in all New York is an amazing place and somewhere that I plan to see during every season; so far I have seen it in the summer and in late winter/spring! I would love to see it in full bloom spring, fall, and around Christmas time! The top of the Rock is the most amazing viewpoint of the whole city, and I recommend it over the Empire State Building because the Empire State is in your view, and if you go to the second level of the top floor you have no glass or fence in front of you, so its a perfectly clear view! One tip about sightseeing in NYC is to remember that everything costs money, so add a sightseeing fund into your budget!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post about my fun adventures in NYC! I cannot wait to be back! My next big trip is to Whistler, I've never been so feel free to send recommendations!

Love Yourself Series-Abby

"Perhaps We Should Love Ourselves So Fiercly, That When Others See Us They Know Exactly How It Should Be Done."

Working with Abby and Sara for the 'Love Yourself Series' of October was beyond wonderful. Abby has such a pure, down to earth soul that is amazing to be around. Working with Sara on this project has been an experience that I'm so grateful to be a part of, I wouldn't want to spread self love with anyone else!

Meet Abby

Why Are You Passionate About Self Love

Self-love, sadly, is a subject our education systems are now just learning to implement. Our generation and the ones who have come before us seem to lack this fundamental tool in achieving mental wellness. I've become tired of hearing "Tough it out" as my go-to mantra in the back of my mind during difficult moments. Self-love fuels strength, independence and authenticity in a person. Something as easy as learning to supplement the "Tough it out" mantra with a phrase more like, "Hey, today has been rough. But you can do this, and if you feel overwhelmed, it's okay to ask for help" can change how you feel about your situation, and shift blame into acceptance.
I'm just beginning my journey as a nurse, and already I've noticed one of the qualities that tends to separate the patients that are on the road to recovery and the ones who will not do well, is self-love. Choosing to meet yourself where you're at, accepting time to rest, making time for people who lift you up, indulging in that full-fat latte, and diving into hobbies that fuel passion all are ways to show yourself some TLC.

What Qualities About Yourself Do You Love And Appreciate

This is another reason why I actively have begun to practice self-love, praising yourself in a world that has always supported humbleness can be hard! I actually really like the tender part of myself, that is able to listen and show sympathy. I never have to pretend that i'm interested in someone's story, I genuinely care and what to understand what road has led them here. Another quality that I like about myself I have my parents to thank for, my courage to try new things even when they scare me and/or I'll look silly doing them.
I love that I have grit, and am not easily shaken. Somewhere along the line I was lucky enough to adapt a mindset that is (mostly) able to let go of situations that are not in my control, and bounce back.

What Do You Do For Yourself To Recharge And Encourage Self Love

My favourite ways to recharge are talking with friends, going to sleep early, exercising, indulging in something sweet every once and awhile, and listening to music.

What Makes You Feel Beautiful

This is going to sound kind of strange, but I can't think of a time where I feel more beautiful than when I'm laughing. Sure, it's not always graceful, but i'm always experiencing the moment and enjoying my life when i'm laughing.

What Advice Would You Give To Your Younger Self

-Just because that boy doesn't like you back doesn't mean there's something wrong with you.
-Don't take yourself so seriously.
-There will be times when people in your life don't approve of your choices, that doesn't mean they're bad ones.
-Mom is always right.

I Found Happy

"I found happy," she thought, I finally have found MY happy.

I stopped viewing myself in the eyes of others who don't know me.
I stopped focusing on how deep I was breathing, but on the fact that I was breathing!
I found happy when I woke up each morning and remembered everything I was grateful for.
I picked myself up from the lowest I'd been,
I stitched up my cuts and bruises,
I held my chin up and I knew I would get through it, I knew I'd find h a p p y.
I did, I found happy.
Instead of letting it defeat me, I defeated it. The many things that "it" was.
I remembered that life doesn't OWE me anything, life is a blessing we've all been given.
What did I do to deserve this blessing?

I found happy when I pounded my feet on the pavement during a sunset jog;
Instead of, "how much longer?" I listened to the music of the wind as it carries me along.
I stopped carrying myself with weight, but with a gentle flow of grace.
I learned to begin the never ending, but always growing, journey of self love.
I learned to not care about what people say or think so much, but to believe so strongly in what you're passionate about because frankly, it doesn't matter what they never will.

I found happy when I learned to let go.
Let go of the past, let go of the pain, learn and move forward.
Live for the now.
Look at it as the past is an experience, and the future as blooming. Don't be scared, be grateful, be excited!

I found happy.
I breathe crisp air, I spend time with people whom I love, I feed my soul the food and life it needs, I am g r a t e f u l, I help others because it makes them and myself happy, I live. Dammit I LIVE.
Every given moment I live. I sleep in on Sundays because I CAN. I adventure because I CAN. I snort when I laugh at videos laying down because I CAN. I am who I am because I CAN be.
If I can, you can.
If I can be happy, so can you.
Life is beautiful, life is a blessing, we wake up everyday to a new adventure. Go for it.

I Found Happy.
